Death Squared is an incredible little puzzle game for the Nintendo Switch. It features a nice single player mode and an incredible co-op mode where up to four players can work together to complete tricky puzzles.
The idea behind the puzzles is quite simple. Players must move the different colored blocks to reach the circle the same color as the block. Naturally, this isn’t quite as simple as it sounds. The game starts off with some simple puzzles which quickly become more intricate and demand much more thought. As a result, players are forced to think outside of the box to complete the puzzles in this game.
While the game is simple enough, there is no actual instruction on how to play it. This isn't much of a problem in single player but for co-op with two players where each player controls two squares, this can result in a lot of frustration. Despite this, the game exceeds in teaching players through trial and error, forcing players to adapt to each new situation they're placed into. It results in a game that feels very well constructed with plenty of challenging moments.
The single player is filled with humor thanks to the two voices that have discussions and make comments when you ultimately fail and die. Multiplayer, on the other hand, lacks this but the sheer hilariousness of playing with friends or family more than makes up for this. As a result, both modes have their own points of attraction which make the entire game and fun, entertaining and fresh experience.
Death Squared is a great puzzle game which works perfectly for the Nintendo Switch. I'd highly recommend getting this game if you own a Switch or plan to get one. It feels very unique and is challenging without being obscenely difficult.
